Does anyone on here have one? Happy with it? I have been looking at them very hard and thinking of picking one up..

Im looking at a java 5 speed 2.0

good-
4door
26-30mpg
good room
decent power for what it is/light

Bad-
they seem cheap made on the inside but for the price tag (11-12k) i can live with it.

Thoughts........Girly car? to boxy? POS?

Well my girlfriend was really interested in them. She thought they were really cute, but too small for her (comfort and safety)...and she's 5'2" 115lbs. I tried to get in (6'5" 330lbs) for a test drive...I quit and told her to have fun. I did have an opportunity to ride in aseveral other kias, and they had potential, but regardless of trim level...I felt the interiors on all of them were terribly cheap.

We've got an 08 xB. Kia tried real hard to clone this car when they made the Soul. The Soul is smaller, weaker, uglier, and doesn't get any better mileage than my xB. And if you spec out a Soul similarly, they cost about the same. Now I don't like the 10 xB as much, and I think they may be discontinuing it after this, but it's worth driving. BTW, I'm 6'5", 250lbs, and I'm comfy for long trips in it.

Honda Fit....FTW. I get 36-42 mpg...depending on a/c, passengers/how i drive....... you can get them fairy cheap right now, at/around $10k. They handle VERY well....my stock fit easily handles as well as my ITR did...no joke. They're "sporty" buy by no means quick...but they'll get out of their on way if need be.

i bought my 07 with 112miles on it....and currently have 80500 on it....and it's not given me a SINGLE issue. I change the oil every 6-8k miles, put tires on it when they wear out...and that's it. I'm still on stock brake pads and fluid (although my rotors are hella warped at this point lol) and i'm still on a stock clutch.....and for me, that's to the point of being AMAZING.

toss on the fact that you can lay the rear seats completely flat and you have a TON of storage...and the rear seats slightly recline and there's ample room in the back seat for 2 adults or 3 kids....

the headlights are good...which has always been one thing that irks me is crappy headlights...but mine are good and still on stock bulbs, silverstars would prob make a good difference.

but yeah....Honda Fit all the way man....if you haven't driven one, do yourself a favor and go drive an 06-07 fit

Not intrested in a fit although im sure there good cars

The scion i like but its a little more $$$ and i like the first gen true box's over the newer roundness they have going on. (although i might swing by and check them out.)

Test drove one last night (soul) and room wise i was happy. rear cargo room is lacking but at 6'4 250 i have good room as a driver and in rear seats. Power was better than i was thinking it would be. No speed machine but could move out of its shadow if needed. All they had on the lot was autos. I want to test the 5spd and see how it is (since thats what im looking for)

Im yet to find someone that has owned one for a little while to see how its holding up. I could look online but most are kia soul forums and there not going to be telling like it is.....The search goes on.

the sis in law has a soul, actually on her second one.
She totaled the first.
Shee is 17, got out of the car and left it in drive. It rolled down hill a total of 18 feet and hit a light pole. the hill was in a HS parking lot so no mountain, but 18 feet and a light pole will total a Kia Soul. but she LOVES the car and has had no problems with thee second one.

Kia's are pretty decent. The quality isn't too bad, but some interior issues have arisen with our Kia Sportage (I believe its an '07). Most notably the drivers side sun visor broke and needed to be replaced...they did it no charge.

I was looking at getting either a Soul or a Forte Coupe when the whole cash for clunkers deal was happening. I only test drove the 4 door Forte, Coupe wasn't out yet.

I liked the look and feel of the Soul though.

If you think the Soul is roomy, wait until you drive the xB. You'll get over the roundness quickly! My 6'2", 200+ lb Dad with bad knees rode to Charlotte and back in the back seat of ours with nary a complaint! I can sit in the front seat with our rear-facing baby seat behind me, and I'm still not eating dashboard. And the luggage room is good, too. It's like the Soul, only bigger. Seriously, Kia designed their seats just like the Scion's. It's scary to look at the two side-by-side.

04-05 Passat TDI Wagon. Same price range, better built, safer, better mileage, and people will assume you are a treehugger instead of a queer.

Driven a few tdi's....really like them. BUT ive also seen the bills from VW when they need repair/tune up. Main draw on the soul is brand new and 100k warrenty and cheap considering.

ive sold kias for the last 8 yrs. we also carried sev. other car manf. vw being 1. im impressed with the soul. and yes the warranty is decent. i can prob still get you a decent deal on 1. even though i haved moved on to a chevy dealer for now. my bro. inlaw is the sales mgr.

Yeah, VW has gotten really bad about this, maintenance is crazy complicated and/or expensive
