have a tach for my D350 that reads the alternator with a magnet...

needs to be calibrated...

I understand you can use an optical tach, like you may have for an RC airplane or helicopter...

maybe can be done other ways?

just trying to borrow something (or even rent) rather than buying a piece of equipment I'll only use once...

Thanks.

i have an ohm meter than can read rpm's, but i don't know if it will work the same on a diesel, or if it would help you at all. if it will you're welcome to stop by and use it.

how does it read RPM's? i.e. how does it hook up to the motor?

actually...with the spring being 17 years old, no telling how accurate it is...

HOWEVER, I have a brand new 3200 gov spring getting ready to go in, so I may ballpark it that way...:D
