Anyone here know what the standard length for a section of duct in a building is? It has been a long time since I did design for a company that had a sheetmetal shop, I work for an engineering firm now and never have to do sheetmetal drawings. I've got a job where I'm helping out a contractor and they asked me to do sheetmetal drawings for them. I know how to do them, but I can't remember the standard length for the life of me. For some reason 3' sticks out in my mind, but who knows.

Anyone?

It depends on the style of joint mostly. When we were in business we did mostly industrial and some commercial stuff and a standard pocket lock section of duct was 46" long. TDF joints are normally 48". S and drive joints were 46" also. We used 48" wide sheet metal though, Monroe Metal in Monroe uses rolls of metal and can make how ever long of sections you want.
