If so...how in gods name did you get the dome lights to turn on when the doors are open, and get them to turn OFF when they close?!

Beats me, lol I installed one in my jeep about 6 months ago, and I just deal with it, if you figure it out please let me know, I would love to have some light! good luck.

yup, its in there.

We pulled the contact button by the door (the one the door contacts) and spliced in the line from the sound bar to the YELLOW wire coming out.

THe lights came on only when the doors where CLOSED

so simple solution, we pulled the button back out, spliced the wire into a Yellow/Black wire. Now the lights dont come on when the doors are open OR closed...

the only one left is a black/light blue wire, but we are assuming thats the ground? What did we do wrong?!

The door switch should be your gound. When the door is open the ground makes contact and turns on the lights. The door closes and pushing in on the plunger and this breaks the ground contact so the lights turn off. Not sure what color wires do what, but it is a 12VDC light so either side of the bulb can be +/-.

so we cut into the black wire (presuming its the ground)

Lights didnt come on with the door, and now when I put the keys in the ignition the door ajar buzzer comes on, whether the door is open or closed :shaking:

Is this tied into a stock harness or something you are adding? If you are wiring with the stock harness then the light controls should already be there. They run on the same circuit with the keys in ignition warning buzzer. undo the connection with the black wire to ground. Then put the keys in the ignition. Does it buzz with the door open? closed? Do you have a meter?
