Is anyone running 42 irok's on Toyota mini-truck axles ? They are listed as 20 pounds heavier than the 39.5 Irok's. A whole lot beefier than the 39.5's

Bud in Colorado (moved from NC in April) is running 42" TSL on Toys upgraded. I know he blew the fawk out of the rear but those axles have been pounded on and pounded on by the stock F motor. The rear popped after the 5.3 install and getting traction on the western terrain.

I'm running 42" Iroks on my FJ40/buggy with fairly well built FJ40 axles and a V8.

I have 30 spline Longfield birfs/inners, chromo hub gears, and ARP knuckle and hub studs in the front axle, and it works great.

My rear axle is an FJ40/Toyota mini truck hybrid, it has an FJ40 diff with mini truck axle shafts. I have broken a couple of course spline pinions (running fine spline now), an axle shaft (running chromos now), and a center pin. The rear axle is the weak link on my rig.

With all that said, I will be swapping in a Dana 60 and 14 bolt soon.

I was happy with them.. I blew one ring and pinion in the rear. but other than that i was happy.. Completeyly upgraded axles though.. Longs, driveflanges, Now i am about to run them on the new project with v8.. we will see... but i believe good driving habit go along ways.

Dustin doesnt know what to do with himself now that he has more than 110hp, huh?

42 iroks on a 85 runner, chromy everything , flanges 1/4 wall DOM shafts, cyro'd ring/pinions, no problems with this setup. First time out broke a stock 5.29 r/p in the front and destroyed some 1/8 DOM shafts. Pushing it with a 22re with cam/header/cone filter/full exhaust. Got the axles under my sami buggy now and getting ready to put the motor trans and cases in the buggy. The runner wieghed 3600 lbs and the h1 wheel and 42 irok tipped in at 149 lbs each.

Sounds cool as shit. What is your target weight?

You got it Kyle. He was in town this past weekend for his Moms wedding. 57 hour blur! Coming back in Dec and he freaking loves it out there

Thanks for the replies. Would it be worth stepping up to the 42 Irok's if you had the 39.5's ?? Have std 22re with dual cases, 5.29's and 4.7 in the rear case. Really slow and steady. Truck not a buggy with 63 chevy's and 4044's up front. Enough room for the 42's with a little tub work.

I would stay with the 39.5's until they go bald

42 vs 39.5 irok

I've personally compared the two setting side by side, 42's are not that much taller than the 39.5's on rims and aired to approx 8psi. 42's might be 1/2" -3/4" taller, That was eyeballin' it
But 42 is a bigger number!! Go for it!
