Sounds like they are closing the 540 to davis, so if I want to go to my future work site, davis/kit creek, I'd have to take 540 to 147 pay the toll to manage to get off at davis?
That's gonna suck. Or deal with 540's exit onto 40? that'll also suck.
Grrr. good thing I can work from home I guess.
Or at least work from home until like 10, so I don't have to deal with traffic.

Or am I missing something?
I guess I'll go to the hearing this evening and be a whiney constituent. :D

I have lived with Toll roads up north and they suck.. and the road planners always say the money will go back to help roads and it nevr does.. the roads always look like shit.

i say it is a waste of tax payers money..

Take it from a former yankee, avoid toll roads in your area under any circumstance. If you think gas going up $0.50 sucks you'll just love paying $2.00 to go 10 miles on 540. Traffic at the toll stations is joy too.

Oh, i'm not asking "what's going on" as in is it going to suck a giant ___________ when they setup toll roads.
I was asking more of a WTF as they just spent a ton of loot to build the offramps from 540 to davis, (overly complicated, over priced thing anyway) and now they are going to spend a ton of loot to destroy them and close them?
WTF?
Not to mention it's going to suck for me coming down 540, having to get off on 54, cut through on hopson or mcrimmon etc to avoid paying a stupid toll.
Even if I do, i'll have to go down 540, get off on 147, then get onto davis not at kit creek.

Blargh.

(Aka this was a whiney rant. Sure to bring the ire of Chuck for being one of the whiney people)
:D

well if people refuse to use it and boycott it they will have to address it.. But since most will not do anything and simply PAY, nothing will happen...

And people think "growth" is good. WTF do they know? All those people have never lived in cities and towns with toll roads and ridiculous amounts of planned congestion. Those roads will not ease anything...stunting "growth" in the area will.

I invite any of those DOT idiots to go drive around Beltway 8 in Houston during high-traffic times. A 20 mile drive takes well in excess of an hour on those so-called "congestion relieving" highways.

Growth can be good.
Actually growth is good.
BUT you need PLANNED growth. And new construction should have a small fee for new roads/schools tacked on it.
Build new houses, great. But they cost 1-2% of sales price for new schools/roads.
budget for schools at least would be solved without all the stupid bonds and crap.

Ahh, ADD at it's finest. :(

I need to buy some land between 54 and davis and just drive across it in the mornings and evenings. :D

Let's all get together and buy the land that is not for road use out there and make our own off-road-roads! Rock crawling to work and mud slinging on the way home!! The only congestion will be when someone rolls their rig on the "waterfall"!!

"Sorry I am late sir, their was a pile up on the rocks, .... oh yes Sir I know the parking lot is muddy, but the rain will wash the mud away tomorrow, .... Forgive my outfit Sir, I forgot my poncho at the house and it was extra muddy today"

Yu know thats basically what everyone did with 185 in Greenville.

then in a minute of pure legislative brilliance the SC legislature voted that since revenues were not as high as expected tolls would be increased fro .50 to 3.75 EACH DIRECTION...lets just say revenue dropped further.

now many days you can go through there and no one is working any of the toll plazas.
