Apartment lease question

Ok, so here's the deal. I signed a lease to renew my apartment for another 12 months starting this august. The lease I signed for next year, had my name spelled incorrectly, so I have to sign a whole new lease for legal reasons. I however have decided to move into another apartment closer to everywhere I need to be.

My question is, are there any lawyer type people on here that would happen to know how binding me signing that contract with the incorrect spelling is? I'm assuming that even though they misspelled it, there is some clause in there that says it's still valid. But what has me wondering is how they're making me sign a new lease because of it. I'm looking for anyway to get out of this lease, including releting it, but I'm having trouble finding someone.

If there are any lawyers on this board in the raleigh area that think they could find some thing in the lease about it, I'd be more than willing to buy them dinner while we look over it.

You are at NCSU right?? Get a copy of the lease and take a trip down to student legal services, they will be able to help you as good as anyoen could for free.

legally, you can get out of it. But, they may try to play hard ball and try to ignore the fact that your name is mispelled. If they decide to try to bind you to the lease, it may not be worth the time to fight it. There should be a 30 day notice period in there for you. Worst case, you'll loose 1 months rent...

signed in black ink? Technically speaking, black is the only legally binding color although its very difficult to use this as an argument...

I am renting out my house in Raleigh to some folks, and we just reupped the lease, so it's still fresh in my mind. There's a line in there that basically says that typos, spelling errors, etc, will NOT void the lease. From what I understand that's pretty standard, but you might want to read through your lease to see if it's there or not...
