Just wondering what the approx. weight is of a np231 tc and also of the tf999? I will be hauling mine out of my yj this weekend, ( one at a time- NOT bolted together ) and just didn't want to be surprised when it comes crashing down onto tmy chest! lol!

according to online the 231 is ~70-75lbs
I seemed to think it was lighter than that, but maybe I'm just uber strong?

I'd guess about twice that for the transmission?
I know when cursing, tcase= lay on back move her around and put it in.
transmission= get a transmission jack, or you'll be cursing.
(getting out isn't to bad. putting in will be)

50 - 60 lbs for the 231, maybe 80 or so for the trans. Shouldn't be too much of a problem for you. I've done many 231s and 300s, and all types of transmissions, usually by myself, and I'm an old fart :)

NP231 is a one hander. I put in my NV4500 by myself with no jack.

But it was an empty case at the time, heeheehee.

Don't hurt your self, get a buddy over to help or get some jack stands and some lumber up there to support it until you have an idea how its going to go. I'm not saying you can't handle the weight but as said its the unexpected that hurts. People have died from shit landing on them..

Your not very close but your still welcome to barrow my tranny scissor jack and floor jack adapter thing..

I VERY much appreciate all the advice (and the kind offer to borrow Yager's trans jack, thanx Yager- I'll let ya know if I need it). Thanx guys! Still having a hard time finding a new "doner" trans....hopefully soon AND at a price I can live with! LOL!
