I've about got everything ready to fire up the HH175 I bought last week from Andy. In looking around locally, I found very little price difference between the 2 local suppliers (Nat'L Welders & Welding Supply) for a bottle & C25 fill. Both will run about $200 for a 90ft/3.

Called the folks, Holox in Colfax, that supply our labs with various gases. IMO, the rep appears to be giving me a substancial discount... $100=90ft/3 & $135=150ft/3 1st fill is free, out the door. They will pickup/deliver to my office for free (twice a week) and I'm purchasing the bottle, so I can get it filled at Nat'l/WS in a pinch.

While the 150ft/3 bottle is a better value, I question both the practicality of needing that large of bottle (for occasional projects...not 40hrs/week use) & any drawbacks from it's physical size (a good 12"+ taller than the 90).

Looking for comments from those that have similar MIGs & use... I have to call the rep back soon to get the order in for delivery tomorrow...

get the 150. No draw backs other than its size. I didnt have delivery when I had my 90, and the welding store is a good 40 minutes away and I was filling the 90 bottle once a month.

$200 is a bit steep. I got my 90 for $125 filled and the 150 for $150 filled from the welders supply up on capitol. The refills are $30 and $50.

I have the newer handler 180 and a miller 300.

The largest I can afford. :flipoff2: Currently I have a 80 cf argon, a 80 cf c25 and a 20lb co2 for the mig if I run out of mixed gas. The two 80's work nice for me since the tig and mig are on the same cart, but I would still like to go larger.

I've personally had a 20cf, a 40cf, and now an 80cf of c25 and I bought all three--instead of renting--and well, I'm sure that it cost me a lot more than it would have had I of just gone larger from the beginning.

I have a Lincoln 175 and I got the biggest one they would sell. It's really annoying to run out in the middle of a job. I also found out it would pay for itself since the refill wasn't that much more than the little bottle I had. They also have the big bottles all the time and occasionally ran out of the small ones. I like the big one as I drape my cords and such across the regulator an keep the out of harms way. The only drawback is that if you forget and leave the bottle on then it's more money wasted.
