Are TJs supposed to “ding” if you leave on the HLs?

Mine doesn’t ding and when you switch it off with lights on. Then, it’s easy to forget to switch off the lights after years of auto HLs.

Is it broken or as designed?

I don't recall... the door switches on ours are disabled. If your dome light doesn't come on when the doors are open, do the fuse swap and see if it dings then.

I think the chime is disabled with the dome light. Check fuse #4 in the panel behind the glove box.

Ok, the dome light does not work with the door but does with the switch on the stalk. I assumed it was disabled to remove the doors and was probably done at the switches, I didn’t look though.

So fuse out will still let the light work with switch? Or are they probably disabled another way?

@LBarr2002 too

Pulling the fuse only disables the door switch/pins and apparently the chime for the headlights from what it sounds. The light will still work when turned on from the stalk without the fuse.

Look for a switch under the dash on passenger side under right corner of glove box. I’ve installed one of those on both my TJ’s instead of pulling fuse.

Just a quick update in case someone later has this issue, #4 fuse was pulled so I put one in and the chime works correctly.
