Yes its true, myself, Rodney, and Larry got to participate in Arts and Crafts time at Uwharrie. We even got to play with stickers! 
The Arts and Crafts time was apart of our jobs playing DOT workers (or as we put it DOW, "Department of Wheelers") putting up trail signs on the workday.
Kidding aside what we did was important, having the trails clearly marked is vital to keeping people from getting lost. It just so happens we ran into a couple on 4 wheelers that accidentally ended up on Daniel earlier that day because it didn't have a sign marking it (coming from the Rocky Mountain Loop side). They thought they were still on RML. It just so happens we didn't get that sign up until after they were on the trail we found out, but next time they won't get lost. We put up 13 signs out of the 16 carsonite posts we had (3 broke tips off).
Through teamwork we set up an assembly line. Larry dug through the folders and backs of stickers that Drew (Forest Service) dropped off for us. While Rodney and I surveyed where to put the post(s) (for best visibility etc, and easiest soil conditions). Rodney used the carsonite installer to put the post in, and by then the stickers had been transferred to a blank page and handed off to me to put them on. While Rodney and Larry did help with a sign each, but if there are any crooked letters etc on the 11 of 13 signs out there its my fault.
We put up signs for Daniel, Rocky Mountain Loop, Dickey Bell, Dutch John, and Slab Pile.

I had a great time, and it seemed Larry and Rodney did also. Thanks to them for coming out and making this workday a blast. I think a total of 16 people showed up, including other groups that worked on other trails doing trash pick up etc. So a lot of work got done, and we had a great time doing it.
