Atlas Winch?

so what good low budget starter winch would anybody recommend?

I have heard that Champion winches are made by Warn

Best money IMO would be the summit winch(summitracing.com) which is made by T-Max but private label. I have the 9500 459.00 shipped to my door--yes Made by T-Max verified and less expensive because of private labeling. I did a post on pirate and there is a post on tacomaterritory.com. T-max is comparable to Warn just look at the pirate post for the side by side specs or google summit vs t-max winch

Buy a used warn. I have $550 in my winch, $40 to get all the aluminum on it re powdercoated, $170 for synthetic line, $50 hawse fairlead, -$20 for roller fairlead.

$790 for a Warn 9000i that now looks like new, with synthetic line and a aluminum fairlead.

x2 rebuilding a used winch is the way to go!

T-max is comparable to Warn

Yeah, like a Kia is comparable to a BMW. They both have 4 tires, windows, and an engine.

yeah you do pay for what you get, and Warn has deff prooved themselves to be the best....

but really arent winches actual ability based on the motors, and electronics... so saying that the gearing was the same between a Warn and an el cheapo winch, if u could put a Warn motor on the other winch, youd have one that was basically as good as a Warn?

There's absolutely nothing high tech or remotely difficult about building winches.

Could be good, could be crap.
