I have a Spartan in my rear diff, and it bangs at times if I get on it too hard as well. Like Smokeeater, I can only tell it's there when turning, especially when backing up. It does click sometimes when coasting, but I wouldn't advise against getting one installed in the rear.
On the other hand, I've been debating putting one in the front.
