Does anyone here use autocad.
I have not used autocad in about 5 years and want to get back to using it. What is a basic version? I looked around on the web and found about 30 different versions.

solidworks is about the best I've used

what will you be using it for, my last job title was CAD Bitch, what it said on the outside of my cube, so ive used 2002 and 2006 a fair amount, but really like solidworks for 3d work, while the new autocad can do it, i never even attempted to learn it

i do like the autocad just as good as anything for 2d work though

Autocad has ALWAYS been able to do 3D....

It doesnt do it very good, and anything besides solid shapes (parts, mechanical type) it doesnt do very well, but its possible..

I use autocad for design, and inventor to test pressure points and crinkle zones, etc on chassis & cages. Im just trying to learn solidworks now.

AutoCad is oldschool.

Solidworks is the stuff!

I use Surfcam mostly, but that's a programing software, not for design. Our designs are all done on solidworks though.

We were supposed to roll out 07 this month. I think the plan now is to migrate to Autodesk Revit instead. I use ADT 2004 mainly.
