Unfortunately, my truck came with an auto and short of swapping it for a 5-speed, [which I would like to do eventually] I need to fix a couple issues with it.
First, the shifter itself has way too much play in it. I removed the plastic trim around it and it looks like this is something that cannot be easily adjusted. Is this true? Right now the shifter has about 1.5 - 2 inches of side-to-side play and about 1 inch front and back. Any way to tighten this up?
Second, when shifting into reverse [and sometimes D], it jerks into gear pretty badly. For the time being, I just planned on adding some good trans fluid and see if this cleared it up some.
