We are thinking about moving, however it may be a distance to travel to work. We were just wondering the average distance that people commute to work to help us consider our alternatives. :driver:

Thanks for your feedback...

about 6 miles each way.

About 30 feet. :)

I'm self employed, have office at home for the paperwork, web work, and network admin stuff, and a shop where I have my bench, parts, etc.

When I go on site, clients are anywhere from 1/2 mile to 60 miles away.

I drove about 55 miles one way for 13 months, it sucked. So I bought a house 1/4 mile from my office. I wouldn't mind a 20-30 minute commute, so now I'm thinking about moving again.

I did the 45 minute, 30 mile 1 way commute for years then got a job 4 miles/ 10 minutes away. Now I have an hour of my life back per day to spend with my daughter. I will not consider a commute more than 15 minutes now.

factor the commute time into your work week and find your dollar per hour and see if it's worth it or not.

^^^ good advice on the per hour benefit.

Commute is about 13 miles one way, <15 minutes b/c all highway.

68 miles one way.

The drive helps me de stress and be game on daddy when I walk through the door.

Ive never had a <1hour commute, but sometimes I think about it...

50 miles, 1 hour. It gives me time to relax. I considered moving closer, but the house and property values compared to where I live are much higher, and I like where I live. We figured out that we like working to live, not living to work, and this is where we want to wake up on the weekends.

I would consider traffic as a big issue. There are routes in Charlotte that could be 20 miles that take an hour to drive. I would hate to be in bumper to bumper shit everyday because that is not relaxing. If you can drive peacefully and not have it wear you out, I would consider a commute.

I was 25 miles from work and it took anywhere between 30 min and over an hour depending on accidents. When I moved, I picked a location that avioded the bad traffic and asshole drivers. And Charlotte's fuckin full of them.

Yep

I just got home from work in RTP from when I left the house this morning @ 7am...its now 1:30am & of course my buddy wanted me to swing by his house in Raleigh for a few minutes after work (left work about 7pm) ....ended up dropping a new motor in his Saturn after dinner. Then test drove it around the block with him before I rolled outta Raleigh down here to Vass (next to Fort Bragg)

Gotta be back at work @ 8am for 8 more hours....uhhh ....today (Sat)

Later...gonna go take a nap

11 miles, 17 minutes one way.

I only put around 7k miles a year on my truck. A tank of gas may lasts 2 -3 weeks, just depending. I save a lot of cash on gas and maint expenses.

I used to drive 72 miles round trip.... I hated a 50 minute drive, and I put 14k on a car in 6 months...... had to fill up gas tank every 4 - 5 days.

100+ miles every day.

From Bunnlevel ( South of Lillington ) to Durham.
My Jeep is my DD too so I have to fill it up with gas every 2-3 day.

But I love where we live and if we move closer to my job then he has further to get to his.

Yawwnnn...

Headed Back to Work....have fun everybody else.

Spozed to be a nice day out there... Get yer shit put together so'zz we can all go wheel...this workin' fer a livin SUX....

But the good news is for y'all junk peddlers ... that means I'll be in touch....

See Y'all :driver:

I NEED COFFEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
