Anybody have a neutral safty switch for a 98 cherokee that they would be willing to part with:rolleyes:??? Mine finally died, I thought I could clean it again but it was well past the point of no return.

thought about re-wiring it with whats left of it, to try and bypass the switch... anyone here had any luck doing so? Thoughts, ideas???

If you skip it remember that it'll start in gear now and without your foot on the brake it'll move unexpectedly. I had an old Bronco that scared me on more than one occasion for that very reason.

yeah, just bypass it. I did it on my 96xj. Check out NAXJA there are plenty of writeups on how to do it. On my 96, I Just followed the wiring harness from the NSS to the engine bay...you will find a connector there. I just simply clipped a wire and spliced it into one of the adjacent wires. Don't remember at the moment which wires did what. That's were naxja can help you out. Worked great for me, until I wanted to get it inspected. It was throwing a code for faulty transmission thingy, so I just switch it back for inspection. Works great for me....cheaper than $300 for new one. Let me know if you got any ?'s

Same here as mmmkay325. When my son's quit several years ago we traced the wires from the switch to the engine bay and used a paper clip to connect the switch pins in the connector, some electrical tape and presto! Worked fine, just be careful when starting, it WILL start in gear :)
