Ok, I dont know the answer so i'm looking for some help. Does a TJ ax-15, have the same size shaft as a YJ input shaft? Also the area i am referring to is where the shaft goes into the pilot bearing. Im pretty sure the size and number of splines are the same.

Basically, i'm trying to figure out if i can use a TJ AX-15, in my YJ, ( i know about the difference in slave cylinders/throwout bearings).
Also, my YJ has the stroker, so the crank is 4.2 out of an 89. I think i can use the tranny, just might have to get a different pilot bushing, but i'm not sure, and i dont want to buy one, and not be able to use it.

Thanks.

Yes, early ax-15's had smaller diameter shafts than later ones. I ran into this when swapping to a newer block and tranny for my 91. Jeep actually makes a special pilot bearing adapter to accommodate for the size difference. I bought one and never used it. I'll see if I can dig it up tomorrow and take a pic.

In order to get my 93 ZJ AX15 to fit my stroker, I used a 2001 TJ pilot bearing.
3/4" ID, 1.82" OD

Thanks, I thought I remembered that issue when I swapped in my 4.0 for the 258 years back. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.
