Axle caps letter don't match housing

I have a Dana 60 housing that is stamped J and the caps are marked X. Does that mean the caps are wrong? Someone tag Jody please, lol.

Someone has swapped caps at some point @GubNi. At the least I would measure the journals and compare side to side. A trip to the machine shop may be in order to make sure everything is kosher.
 
It's an axle from an XJ. The marks help identify it when the diff cover is off. :lol:
