What is the difference between d-44 axles? Is there any one any better than another? Heres the deal, i went and got an axle that is supposed to be a d-60 out of a mid 70's k-20 p-up. It does have 8 lug hubs big brakes ect. But something doesn't feel right, i can't find any d-60 markings on it( from internet drawings). So I'm thinking it may be a d-44 3/4 ton. But how can i tell exactly , i have yet to see any markings. If it is a d-44 3/4 ton is it a decent axle, for a S-10 blazer bodied, K-5 framed, well warmed over 355, SM465 trans 205 t-case, 14 bolt rear rig. Thanks for helping a newbie

A 60 will have a 60F cast into the pumpkin, and should be kingpin. Post up some pics, someone here can ID it for you. As far as the D44, its just like a half ton D44 on the inside, not a bad axle, but not a 60.

stock that is a D44K30 would be where to find a 60.

Magazines swear by 60s in k20s. Iv bought ~15 60s from boneyards every one came from a 30

as always ymmv
