ok got a broken shaft that needs removal, dana 35 clip out of a yj, its geared 456, and has some type of locker, or limited slip, not sure, it replaced the carrier, and has on 1 side a big snap ring, maybe that it but wanted to ask. any help would be good.

You have to push the axle shafts in and remove the c-clips retaining the ends of the axles in the diff. (I think thats what you're asking anyway) There should be a c-clip on both axle shafts.

correct, you need to get the C-clip off the end of the shaft. If it's a broken shaft and it broke down at the carrier, you may find that the splines twisted and "cammed" the broken stub into the carrier. had that happen to a buddies d35. Ended up having to have the stub torched out of the Full Detroit.

ok let me rephrase, no carrier in it, a full locker, or limited slip, now there is a round plate on one side, and had a large clip that can be removed. is that where i need to take out to access c clips. axle removal no problem but havent dealt with a locker like this. see no gears, or center pin. locker takes up whole axle housing.

how about taking a pic and posting it up? The locker should still have access points to remove the c-clips from.
