well, a year or so ago i swapped in 89 YJ axles that had 4.10 gears and lockers front and rear. Then i got a 8.8 and was gonna install that with 4.88 and a mini spool. (already got all the crap just never installed it) ANYWAY...i got a deal too good to pass up on waggy D44s front and rear so i'm installing those :bling: Only thing i have to decide is what kind of locker for the front and rear, since i'll have lockout hubs now up front...and i need to decide whether I'd be happier with 4.88s or 4.56 with my 35's and a 4.0/5 speed

since you have a 5 spd & i assume stock xfer case i say 4.88 , it will have more pep on the street & crawl better offroad. hard to beat det. lockers front & rear or dl rr /lockrite frt. ,arb is great in the frt also but mo money. i run a arb frt & leave it open 90% of time offroad for easier steering.the 44's are a great set of axles w/ lots of options and good to 37,s

I would go with the 4.88's if it were me. I love my detroit I run in my dana 35 (soon to be dana 60 spooled). I run a ez-locker up front and it works great as well. With manual locking hubs you can put whatever you want up front. Remember it will greatly affect your turning radius(when in 4 wheel drive).

you still got the mini spool? if so, is it for sale? how much?

Its just up to you, but I have a buddy with 456s on 35s in his YJ and he loves the setup, but it does see more street time then trail time....

Agree on the detroits, great lockers... you oculd also go ARB front or rear, and would give the ability to be open for the street or when needed offroad...
