I have a service manual that say's D44 rear and D25 front, but its had a spring over lift and if I was going to change axles thats when I would have done it. It does have drum brakes all the way around and the tag at the cover is stamped 3.73 which would have been the stock gearing( according to the manual I have). It looks like the springs have been changed each one in the stack looks about .250 thick. I just picked the jeep up on Sunday and haven't really picked it apart yet. I normally buy 1976-1982 CJ's so this is new to me.
Thats some good info to have. I have only worked with 1976-1982 and mostly stock. So both the axels have been changed? I know the front drive angle is way off and I will be cutting the spring perches loose to change that. What is the stock spring size on a 75 cj5(thickness & width)?
that may be the factory rear, I beleive the amc20 was introduced in '76. Factory springs on a 75 should be 2" wide front and rear. no idea on thickness, but looking at a ruler makes me think they should be at least 3/16" thick.
