i know this soounds like a newb ?,but i am new to jeeps,not 4 wheelin.i just purchased an 89 xj,straight 6,auto,3 inch lift and open on both ends.i am tryiing to purchase some traction adders and need to know which axles i have.are they d30 and 35?thanks for any help.

If all is stock, you'll have the D30 up front. The rear will be either the D35 or the 27-spline ChryCo 8.25. Most likely it'll be the D35 though.

If you're really lucky it may just have a D44 in the rear.

I don't think the 8.25 came out until later like around 93. Should either be the 35 or 44. Most likely the 35. There is a ton of good info on www.NAXJA.org pertaining to Cherokees. You can read about it for days.
