2001 Wrangler Sahara TJ...did they come with Dana 44s?
 
are you talking about front and rear? or just rear, because with the towing package and 30" tires some came with them.

it depends. i've tried looking for concrete info on exactly which tj's had the 44 rear but even with the towing package i found not all of them had 44s.
 
Nope, mine should have according to the above statement and it did not. I was told by my uncle Mike, who owns a D/C Jeep/Dodge Dealer in TX that it depends on how the dealer orders then. They were made in a lot of different ways but the dealer orders axle choices like an accessory. They Pay more for them but sell them for more also. I wish when I bought my TJ I knew a little more about this so I could have found one with the 44. I am now holding off on all project except cleaning the TJ up so I can trade it for a 2007 4door unlimited. I may end up keeping the TJ too if I cant get a fair amount on trade. (dont tell the wife but I am kind of hoping for a small trade in offer so I can keep it):shaking:

It's just a rear axle, they're not that much $$
 
I had been wondering about the D44 options in TJ's myself. I have the rear 44 in my sahara but dont have the towing package (which was what I always was told was the indicator before I bought it.) Now I believe its like Jeeper Creature said, dealers just order them how they want them.
