I bought a 1989 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer this past Friday for only $300 and drove it home! The guy I bought it from was the second owner. His grandmother bought it brand new back in '89. It has the 4.0, auto trans and it's 4X4. Everything works damn good so far. It has a few kinks like high idle when I first start it up sometimes and an exhaust leak but that's the extent of it. It also likes to cut in and out sometimes when I come to a stop but I let off the brake and it revs back up  I'm wanting to take the IAC off to clean it but I can't get the bottom bolt out. The top one takes a T15 Torx bit but it won't work on the bottom one. I've tried a size smaller and a size larger than that and it won't work either so I'm stuck but hey I can't complain at all for $300. Also, did I mention it only has 141,XXX miles on it?! That's relatively low for an XJ. I haven't really been able to clean it up because of this crazy weather but as soon as it's nice outside it'll be detailed inside/out.

Sweet deal. What's the plans for it?

I'm wanting to keep it stock. I'm going to paint the wheels black sometime this week and I'll be looking for some 30/9.50's soon. This is going to be my daily driver. I doubt it'll ever see anything other than paved road. I know I only paid $300 for it but I feel like it's almost too nice to take out in the woods. I know..I know :fuck-you: It runs/drives/looks so much better than my last XJ and everything seems to work better on it so it's going to stay stock for now. Thanks.

Go to your local Pep Boys. They should have some of these...

... for about $113 each, and they're buy 3, get the 4th free with a rebate. They should have them in 30/9.50 as well as 235's AND 31's. Mine run nice and smooth at 80 (when I get silly enough to go that fast) and there's only a tiny bit of "road hum" at highway speeds. Can hardly hear it with the windows up.

Oh, and that 89 has 30,000 miles LESS than my 90 S15. Good find, even for 4 times that $300!

Thanks for the kind words everybody! ^^^^^^^^I'm definitely going to check out pepboys. Those tires look pretty good! Thanks!
