I started off yesterday like every other day recently, watching my Grand Daughter. That's always a treat!
My son called me and told me he would be a little late picking her up, he needed to go get tires. He called back and said he had two flats! OK one was on the wheel he needed to replace. So I did a search, found one in Asheville, called, they had it, $65. So I headed up after it. Got there. Didn't have it! One guy says, oh, I must have forgot to delete it last week.
Ok, so, 65 miles for nothing. He searched, found one in Shelby. Guy tells him $50 or $60 bucks, so I head down that way. I got off I-40 at Marion on Hwy 226. As soon as I got off the interstate, I was behind a 14' Mobile home going 15-20mph! Had to follow it all the way into Rutherford County. Finally got to pass it, and back to speed. Back up a few months, I had hit my thumb with a BFH and most of it was purple, but the nail stayed on, until with some graceful move I have yet to figure out, I riped it off while passing the Mobile home! Ouch!
So I get to Shelby, my wife had done a map quest, so she was able to get me there no problem. Found it, went it, told them I was after the wheel, he said Ok, did you call, I said yes, explained to him all about Asheville and so on. HE called one of the yard pickers, and sent him after it. about 45 mins later, he comes in with it, but the sales guy was gone now. So I wait some more. He finally comes in and asks me if "he" told me how much, I said yeah, he said $50 or $60 bucks over the phone. "I can't sell it for that, He has it in here for $75, I will let you have it for $65 plus tax. Ok so it's almost $70 and I am on my way. After noon, school busses, Friday traffic, I got it to the tire store in time. Bad day, still needed to work on my trailer, and a few minor things. Had a message from Andysleds, I called, and was given the good news of the generosity of this group.
Like I said, a bad day that ended good.

Its funny how dealing with auto shops and having bad days just seem to go hand in hand.

Very considerate of ya to all that, ya must be a great Dad!!!

Well ya know, I do love all my kids, could strangle them sometimes, but I admit, he tries hard. I also have to consider, his car has to carry my grand daughter around too, so, safety is paramount

man what a day. i bet you were glad to finally see that tire on.

yes I was. I just thought about what else happened. I had to borrow a friends trailer to make my trip today down to Pumpkin Center. I got in the van last night, it was cold, Gage read 1/4 tank on the tank I had just filled last week. I thought maybe the cold,..... just in case, I stopped and filled the tank. nope, it was right, someone stole my gas out of it. Oh well. I had a blast today, so made up for it all.

Somebody stole your gas?
How completely random.
Is this a common problem in Morgonton?

Chip, I have to ask. What parts place did you go to here? Was it Auto Parts of Shelby by chance? If so, I have dealt with them before with similar results.

Buddy of mine just went thru a similar situation ( same kinda car, Ford Focus) bent two wheels when he went off the road in snow and ice last week in Illinios, ended up buying NEW wheels, couldn't find and used locally. (16" alloys)

New wheels at the stealer were $280 ea retail, ended up working a wholesale deal, got $180 ea.

Cheap all things considered, new GM wheels are twice that or better.
