hey yall i think the injectors in my 2003 dodge ram 3500 2wd A/T are going bad, the engine sounds abnormally clanky and has a miss that feels like you are permanantly going over railroad tracks at all speeds, aswell as a rough idol, changed oil fuel and air filter 1k miles ago but it did not fix. it just got worse today btw
It gets a little warmer than usual idoling and towing, but it does not overheat, no coolant in the oil and no oil burning or leaks.
has 160k miles and has never had trans or injectors replaced.
while we are on this subject what are some good performance injectors that would last me a long while
also what is a good performance trans that would last me a while? ( i plan to get a tuner when i replace these)
i just drove the truck a lil (couldnt do much do to traffic) but if i turn OD off it still vibrates but it vibrates much les severely.
could i have bad injectors plus the trans?
also would these be good injectors? http://www.xtremediesel.com/bd-power...jectorset.aspx

Sounds like injectors. Does it smoke and does it have the same symptoms in park/neutral?

cumminsforum.com is the best place to go to find a reputable shop for parts and upgrades/service

i posted there but havent got many replies. and the website is down.

i think im going to take it to a powersports shop that does cummins work locally on thursday.

no black smoke unless i punch it, and no other smoke at all

it has a really rough idle in park, and neutral but its has been a come and go thing for that

the roughness while driving is a new symptom

however hooking up my scan tool i havent gotten any diagnostic trouble codes

its been rough for the last month or two, just now started getting worse, its been running a lil hotter than usual about 10-20 degrees while towing and idle. also the trans did not want to shift in to od ( yes i tow in od :p) and lingered about 3000rpm till i nudged it to shift.

i dont think its a bad tank of fuel, this weekend till today it ran fine and i filled up at TA close to burlington nc

that greenville, nc or greenville, sc?

Hmm thats really good, I change mine every other oil change

In that case you would have to have some serious bad fuel...but that doesnt mean you arent having pump/injector issues

Fuel pressure gauge would help a ton do you have one?

If your pump is weak/failing it would cause the miss, lack of adequate fuel can cause the temp to climb

lack of fuel would be why you see no smoke

im taking it tomorrow for a road test with a scan tool reading the injectors cylanders, lift pump and fuel pressure while i drive to see if it can help pin point

talking to the tech today he said it sounds like a lift pump to him
