Backing out of my driveway two days ago my 10 bolt EXPLODED. Took out 16 teeth, spiders, and cracked the carrier in multiple places. Fast forward until tonight. Took my brothers Jeep out to the bar to meet some friends. Left and went downtown to another bar. They closed at 12 and we all walked out to the parking lot to head home.

When we get to the parking lot my Jeep wasn't there. It wasn't towed, and I'm the only one with a key as we have no spares. Jeep = STOLEN! It was at this point when I had one of those "Really?" moments. I couldn't believe it. Only having been in the bar for a little over an hour, on a Sunday night, I just thought no way. Wasn't really mad as there was nothing I could do except stare at my empty spot. BTW if any of you decide to go to Natty Greene's don't park in spot 131. Anyways, its 2:15 just got home from dealing with the cops. Hopefully they'll find it tonight and I'll have it back tomorrow. It was a big reality check and put things into perspective for me as I've been cursing my truck for laying down on me the past few days.

Moral of the story is that it is most certainly better to have, than to not have at all. I may not have the nicest things in the world but it sure puts things into perspective when someone decides to take them from you.

Everybody be thankful for whatcha got!

Yeah post a pic and I will keep my eye open for for it. Really suxs man, sorry about that.

Red TJ, Tan soft top. Half doors. 4" lift, 33's. Rough Country banner on the windshield and a dent in the tailgate, no spare. I don't have any pics handy, its my brothers Jeep. I'll see if he has any and get 'em on here.

That sucks man, I hate to hear it. Holla at me if I can help, you know I've got the time.

I'll keep and eye in WS.

Anytime I'm out with the Soft or No top I'm always bird dogging on it just for this reason. Hard top is going back on today.

Did you have the doors on? 5spd? Steering wheel locked?

Yea full top and doors, all that. I never worry about thieves when driving my rig around even though I don't have doors, top, or even windshield half the time. I guess mines alot more obvious than my bros, plus everyone on here knows it and it'd be found instantly I'd guess. His is pretty subtle but I feel good that they'll find it, there's enough stickers and stuff to make it stand out from the rest.

Just got the call, they've found it. Downtown at Sugarbears on Elm abandoned. Crime scene unit is there pulling prints, should have it home by tonight.

I hear ya man. Well me on the other hand is constantly worried about theives.. Cause their dirty and ya never know when theyll strike! Heck im constantly lookin out the window at my jeep when im inside the gas station getting smokes. Let me put it this way. I have a wreath on my spare tire (i know its after christmas now...) im sure that will be stolen soon. Theyll get whatever they can take, in your case they took it all.

My sisters white Exploder got stolen a few months back. Never heard anything more about it. She didnt have full coverage ins. so she had to pay what she owed on it. The police never follow up on missing vehicles. Either they wait to find it dumped in a pond or insurance to write it off. Good luck!! - Cause its prolly in peices bye now.

Ok and as I typed that there was your post saying you got it back.... amazing!

You sure you didnt have too much  last night and forgot where ya left it? Thats not much of a joyride for the theif.

...just playin I know you knew where you parked.

Well you gotta love the gov't. My car gets jacked and I have to pay $200 in "fees" to get it back. Not complaining at all, I gladly paid it and was happy to get the Jeep back, I assumed it was long gone by now.

I told the story to my brother tonight when he got home and he couldn't believe it. As far as he's concerned it never happened.

And y2k I wish that would have been the case ha! I don't drink however so that gets ruled out. After this week though, I may have to pick up the habit.

You got to love our system when the victim has to pay to get their own stolen property back.

You need a simple toggle switch for one of the ignition wires. That way they can't start it and will move on to someone else.

BTW - how did they start it?

Glad to hear you got it back. $200 to buy your own vehicle back though? What a joke.:shaking:

Yea Dad was the one who picked it up, I was out with some friends when they called. He was pretty hot over the $200 but what can ya do? As for starting it I still haven't heard, I'm assuming hot wired?
