I hate to have to do this. I have made repeated attempts to contact the seller. Left repeated voice messages, PMs and emails. I can see he logs in to the site almost daily. So I feel like I am being ignored at this point.

Does anyone know him ?

His user ID is thewagonmasternc
Tim Bryant, Lenoir,NC

I posted a WTB ad that I was looking for a 14b semi float axle w/ 4.10s and was contacted via PM by the seller. He said he had one for $100. I called him and he described the item as having 'a little' rust but that only the diff cover was bad and should be replaced. He also said he had cut the perches of.

I had a 3rd party person pick the item up as they were also buying an item from this person. I paid in advance via paypal and had committed to paying the 3rd party person $30 for gas money and for their efforts.

Had I gone to look at this thing in person I would have walked away from it, and I would not have let anyone buy it. I would have immediately called them. I don't really know the 3rd party delievey person enough and don't fault them for not making that call, especially when it was prepaid.

Being from NY I've seen rusty axles before, this is worse than that. There isn't one piece on the axle that I can use nor would sell in good conciseness to someone else.

When I purchased the axle I had planned to use gears, and resell the rest to recoup some of my costs. When I got it I was very disappointed but figured if i was at least able to use the gears that would be ok.. The pinion nut is so rusted that its almost round and there is no way I can get a socket on it.

I should have known when his camera was broken that something was up.. I have filed a grievance through paypal and at this point I want my money back.

I hope that others out there haven't been burned by this person.

I have met him at the farm from what I could tell he's a nice fella. Sorry to hear about the issues hope it gets worked out

i got a radiator from him for a jeep. said it was good. got it here, he shipped it, handled the transaction well, but it has been patched/epoxied in two spots. i hope it works fine when we fire the jeep this weekend.

I just bought a yj tub and frame from him and everything went good. He even loaded it on my trailer for me.

That third party person is going back through for Thanksgiving and Lenoir is only about 45 miles out of his way if you get things resolved for a refund. :huggy: The seller said you were just going to use the insides with no mention of the rest so the third party had no hesitation. And especially since it was "prepaid" he figured you saw a picture of it or was promised an accurate description. The rust was definately acknowledged by the unmentioned third party! But he had no clue that the rust question ever came up though? He did make sure it turned knowing all he did that the insides were what counted. Maybe you will get to know the third party better and ya'll can get a better gameplan next time?

Let me know if you need it returned Mike. I'll gladly run it by a week from tomorrow (21'st) if you can get things worked out between now and then. My deal worked out great for me. Fit my application almost TOO perfect...

Paypal will get you nowhere... if you received an item, that's all they care about..condition doesn't matter just that you have the item... trust me i've dealt what the same issues a few times....

Thanks for the info.. I really hate to have to resort to this kind of thread, he did seem decent on the phone, we talked for a bit about several things. I generally take most people at their word and trust that an item is at a minimum, in a condition to be sold vs taken to the scrap yard.. It didn't seem like it would be an issue.

i got a motor off ebay once looked like it had been drug here form wherever it came from, evrything was broken on it including a ear on the block that the PS mounted to, paypal refunded me the money.

Can you weld another nut on that pinon?

I have a flat top knuckle and some other parts that he bought from me sitting so I am sure I will hear from him soon. I will ask him about this when I talk to him.

He has seemed to be a stand up guy with me on everything. I know he works 3rd shift and is on some weekends and a bunch of overtime. I don't know what the deal is.

Andy

O.K. Tim

Time to MAN UP

I have wheeled with Tim and he has always been a stand up guy. I am rather surprised at this and would be even more surprised if he doesn't make this right. Good luck to both parties.

Mike, if you feel its absolutely necessary you could just call the credit card company that handles the card you used thru ppaypal. they will always reverse the charges immediately and put the matter in dispute, no matter what paypal says.

^That's what I was going to suggest. Paypal is worthless, but the CC company is the real deal in a situation like this.

Relatively unknown 3rd party pickup, no pics, bought sight unseen...sounds like it's your own fault, too. I wouldn't drop all blame on the seller. I always make sure I've seen a recent picture of any item I'm purchasing, along with any other detailed pics I request. Seems like common sense to me.
Although it would be nice, the seller's not obligated to give you a refund. I hope it works out well for you both in the end.

While I agree with John here... my bet is that the bigger annoyance is the lack of communication. E.g., no return contact to emails, PMs etc.
Personally I'm a pretty laid-back, understanding guy, and while I'd be annoyed to find the condition of bought item is not what expected, I'd force myself to get over it for said reasons above. *However*, what would really get me pissed off (and hence more pissed about the affair, even enough so to go public like this) is being ignored about it. To me that's a matter of respect.
Miscommunication and misunderstanding can happen by accident. No communication, however, is intentional...

Very true. I see your point.

I agree it IS partially my fault. I feel like a dumb schmuck. My heel is bruised from kicking myself in the ass. Yes I do know better, I have been burned in the past. I should have done things differently.

So this just happens.... Tim's still a stand up guy. Tough luck for me. Have a nice day.. Don't acknowledge a problem, simply ignore it, it will go away.. Yup sounds like things stand up people do...

Pherry - did you know the radiator had epoxy on it? Typically i'd be ticked off about that, but not enough to post up and gripe about it.. Again sounds like SOP for stand up people?

Well I hope you guys feel safe knowing people like this are out here selling stuff.. Off to find some turd polish.. Got a few items I'd like to sell... Already got a few cans of ebay-shine..

with this community the size it is, covering the entire state and in some cases further, we sometimes depend on others to pick things up for us. I have had people get stuff for me, and I have picked up and delivered. I have not picked up an item when it wasn't something I would want, and I confirmed with the would be purchaser via the cell phone. I use my best judgment just as if it were mine. Mind you, I am in no way putting blame on the 3rd party person here. Some people would stick it to their own mom, while others wouldn't. It's hard to buy without seeing. I have had it go both ways. Anyone who misrepresents their item,......shame on ya. Karma will bite ya in the butt!

Has Tim tried to contact you about this?

^Ditto. Im surprised there has been no post from the stand up guy in this thread.
