getting ready to have an
automatic push button O/D transmission
rebuilt for 95 dodge 1500 4x4 with a 5.9
what are some decent upgrades or things to make sure i improve (prefferably in order of importance) to get some trailor tuggin life out of it? most hauling will be 3 fourwheelrs on a trailor and 1 in the bed. maybe be put to the test on occation but wont be overworked.

The most basic upgrade is a shift kit, which increases line pressure and gives that firm none slip shift. The most important thing to remember is heat, be sure what ever you do to your transmission be sure your cooler is keeping the fluid below 200 degrees, 180 or below is ideal. There are many upgrades to beef up your transmission, for your application on a relatively stock motor you could upgrade to Hi-performance clutches and steels(Red Alto/Colene) to take the heat and abuse to resist "Coning" from towing/heat, a B&M or Transgo shift kit, and a auxilary trans cooler to match your towing weight.

make sure you replace the one way check valve in the cooling line, it's the #1 cause chrysler tranny failure.
i personally never use alto clutches or kevlar clutches, they are dense and cause soft shifts. a shift kit is a must and a good converter and cooler.
