I just bought an Autocraft 5L-BS battery, and went to fill it with acid. The package says that the acid container has just the right amount for the battery and so on, and I used it all without spilling, etc. When it was "full" the acid didn't even come up to the top of the plates, and was nowhere near the full mark at the bottom of the plastic caps.

What are my options? I've always filled with water on old batteries, and that will usually save them for a few months or even years, but this is a BRAND NEW battery. My dad suggested I take it back to Advance, but I can't really fathom what they could do to fix it. Anywhere I can buy battery acid?

They may give you battery acid off of another in stock, & send the one in stock back as faulty.

Thanks for bringing me to my senses. I was so frustrated by it that I was just assuming everyone involved with it was ignorant.
I called the store and they said they had an acid bottle that I could finish filling it with. Went over there and topped it off to my liking, now its on the charger. Lesson learned, next time I will fill it up before I leave the store if I plan to install it soon.

adding distilled water will work fine as well....tap water not so much

yeah, when I worked for them, we used to fill them & charge them for the customers all the time... they also sell battery acid in a container by itself, if you ever want to refill/change it...

I change my battery acid every time I change the air in my tires.
