After a another chat with Moorefield on Friday, I used 12oz (fluid) of 50/50 AF/H2O. The weights had all either shucked off or moved for the most part. Was hoping to take it around the 'hood today for a test, but the battery was too weak to fire it off and my charger/spare Redtop are "on loan" to a bud with a sick oilburner...
we just dropped a premeasured bag in when we mounted the new tires. I am trying to stay away from te valvestem method because it requires a pricier new valvestem to be installed.
I'm confused after researching on this. I find that a bag of 10,000 airsoft pellets is 12 grams. Factor that in with 38" tires according to the chart above and you get close to 38 bags for each tire. That seems pricy even at a couple dollars a bag if that's the going rate? And also seems unreliable to have that many pellets do the trick?
But another note, the dyna beads price is VERY comparable to the Equal that I used. I just don't trust the powder in the long run. Seems like it can slowly start collecting between tire and rim. Looked like sand to me anyways?
Since sand is so abundant and at the best price - FREE, why wouldn't it work? Other than the condensation / hardening factor, seems the first couple of bumps would take care of that? Or if it's a rig that sees little use on the road, just kick around the tire a little before taking off on a trip?
I know this topic's probably been wore the he!! out on pirate so I may research there over lunch...
ummmmm Sand is an abrasive? sand/silica has very sharp edges which would cause tire/wheel deterioration over a period of time. At least that's how I see it.
I need to tell some people that then. But surely it wouldn't hurt to have it in there. Maybe over an extended period of time I could see that being a problem. I'll let 'em know. Thanks Chip
Good point Chip. Duh on my part on not commonly sensing that one out. But I wouldn't think twice with at least 6 ply sidewalls and aluminum wheels then. I think the worst would be rubbing paint of of steelies. Then moisture rusting them on inside.
The Equal was very soft. Looked and felt like Clothes washing ditergent (sp?). Even was white with dark blue speckles. It didn't smell at all though as I had to sniff thinking about the resemblance. I checked it out thoroughly before putting it in there. Wierd !
