Best appliances

My frigidaire just crapped out and here's what I now know:
- the appliance repair guy said they are all about the same if you spend under $1,000. He said in his experience Bosch is the most reliable
- we ended up with a Kitchenaid which had excellent reviews. Msrp $1199 I think, on sale for a few hundred off.
- go to an appliance place, not lowes or home depot. The one we went to had a 5 year no questions asked service plan for $150. We paid about $120 for the service call on the crap unit, so if I need any service over the next 5 years it will pay for itself. Also will replace the entire unit with current version of that model if it does die. No brainer

The primary dishwasher lasted 2.5 years here handwashing before decreeing we'd purchase a dishwasher...

The LG "direct drive" we settle on isn't "Bosch quiet" (but wasn't $1000+ either), has an adjustable upper rack that we found handy and like most of the new HE appliances, has no drying heater...
PRO TIP: using *ANY* "rinse agent" (we found the WallyWorld works as well as "Finish") and your dishes will dry just fine using the air circulation ;)
