Trouble with the RF axle. not going to repair it anymore. I haven't shopped in awhile, and I know there are a lot of options for an old 98 TJ. Bastard front end, Part 30, part 44. Is there a really good quality axle set without spending 1K?
Just asking ...

Nothing broke...yet. U-joint cap keeps breaking the c-clip and working out. Might tack weld it as a temporary. I don't do a lot of trail action anymore. It does more work here on the property than the tractor. Winching and pulling... like an old mule...
Thanks for the input though...

If they're factory shafts, personally I'd just tack them and keep on rolling. I ran tacked caps on every shaft I ever had in my TJ. Obviously none were anything but factory junkyard shafts.

Sounds like you just need a good set of Chromos from ECGS and run the Spicer joints with full circle clips.

Or you can “machine” the inner ears with a cutoff wheel on the stock shafts to accept a full circle clip

I'll look at them. I installed alloys in the rear axle. Figured the front would give me trouble at some point. I have tortured it a bit on occasion.
Thanks to all for suggestions. A tack weld or plain old good quality replacements might get me through another 20+ years.
