Trying to help my bro here,
Question: what Chevy tranny/t-case would you recommend for wheelin, ie: strength, durability, aftermarket gears, etc.. Its going to be mated to a 4.3L in an Isuzu amigo
Tranny options:
TB350 / 400 / 700r4 / Sm 465
T-case:
NP 208 / 205 ....................
So please let the Chevy guys in the know come forward with the latest, greatest chevy tranny / t-case combo:popcorn:

Of the trans I would go with the 400 just for the brute strenth of em,and hands down the 205.To my Knowledge their is zero aftermarket for a 208.The 700 would be alright due to the lower 1st gear but most likely you would probably have to have it built before using.A built 700R4 with a NP231/241 might be another option since the 231/241 is geared the lowest, but they dont have much more aftermarket than the 208.

th350, np203/205 doubler.

I would either go sm465 if you want manual, or th350 (maybe with lower gearset in it)... backed with either a 241/231, d300, atlas, or 203/205 combo... low range on the 205 sucks...

I was just tryin to stay with what he had listed,:D

Hey It's all good...... Please don't limit your responses to only my list..... As long as it'll bolt-up to the 4.3L it'll be considered... NO adapters:poop: Currently using and A/A with the stock Isuzu MAU5 tranny. The MAU5 is a great tranny but it's eating starters, can't seem to get it lined up :shaking: :shaking:

I would go with 700 for gear ratios and overdrive. Its plenty strong enough for a 4.3. The 400 is very strong but considerable power loss. The 350 is plenty strong enough if you don't need overdrive. You didn't mention tire size or axle ratio. The 208 is plenty strong enough for the 4.3 plus lighter weight and lower ratio in low range than 205. I like auto trans over manuals for most applications.

You didn't mention tire size or axle ratio.
O/D not needed primarily a trail rig. 4:56's / 34.10.5 LTB's.

Thanks for all the replys
