ok i got a 2001 dodge cummins slipomatic, i put a superchip in it and ive put 4 transmissions in it, well now its slipin again, and goes back and forth betwine gears, and now the transmison ia out of warranty and its goin to cost me to fix it. so what im wondering is it the superchip making it do this or what, is there a better programmer for a cummins with a auto

You need to have someone else build your transmissions apparently. A superchips programmer does very little power-wise for the 2nd gen ctds. Which is why they don't make that model anymore.
On the other hand, why would you want to put more power to it?

well the dodge place is the one who keeps rebuiling the tranny, i just want to get rid of the superchips and get something else if thats whats causein it

look up power by pool he is in salisbury and specializes in building diesels. mostly dodges. he has a website. and he has everything you need in stock from filters, chips, exh, gauges, trans kits etc.

x2 on power by poole. He is a cool guy and knows his stuff. If I had a auto in my 3500 it would be built by him.

would go with a smarty for the tuner and get a triple disk converter for the tranny after the build and you shouldnt have to worry about it no more.you need to get a tranny tht is BUILT and not worry about a stock tranny if you do much pulling with it.i replace the tranny in my Dodge with a built and triple disk conerter and never had to worry about anything.pulled some heavy loads with it daily but the most i ould pull with was around subdivisions was a Cat D4 dozer and sometimes i would go to another subdivision if it was just down the street

I second the built tranny. I just went through that in my dodge. I bought mine from allstar automotive out of colorado. It was 2300 including shipping for my new trans, and for my core to go back. Its got a built valve body, extra clutches, reinforced struts, and that also included the billet converter (not triple disc but still billet) and the low stall stator upgrade. I love my truck more than ever after installing it. Best money I have ever spent.

i could see tearin my tranny out if i pulled something only thing ive pulled with this tranny is a boat maybe 5 times to the lake witch is 5 miles from my house.

The stock programmer is the best programmer, LOL.

You have the wrong transmission in it. Any dodge trans is the wrong one. Along with door hinges, fuel guages, front bumpers, seats, front axles... Go Ford. ZF6.

Or factory, and hope for the best. But that's kind of gay.

just my opinion but I would rather have a nv5600 any day.

you need a transmission. stock transmission can't even handle the stock motor, putting any tuner on it is just asking to blow it up faster. check out performance innovations in wilmington, that's where i got the tranny in my dodge built

I've always been interested in diesels. Had a great grandfather that taught at the diesel college in Nashville. Supposedly very knowledgeable and respected in that community. I however was too young and I gained none of that. I have a question though how much it really costs to get a "bullet proof" chipped, stacked, yadda yadda setup? Seems like the motors and mods alone are close to 10k then another couple to several thousand in exhaust and transmissions apparently. Just curious as the diesel scene seems like a cross between needs for jobs and then a lot of bragging rights and or like having a street/strip rod. As an outsider it's tough to segregate the strip aspect and the needs aspect of owning a diesel.

If I had a dodge auto Brian's truck shop is the only trans I'd run.

When I had my built 12v he did the tranny and said it had an unlimited lifetime guarantee. I asked him what power limit that was to....he told me if I cracked the housing he wasn't responsible, anything inside he'd replace period.

I think I paid close to 4 grand...but that truck is still running that trans 250k later and it's new enter pulls hot shot cars for one of the auction companies....iow it doesn't move without 3-4 trucks hanging on the back ofit.
