so long story short I'm looking for the best rtv type sealant on the market I have always used right stuff and it has done me well but my current buggy has some crazy clearance cut 9-inch axles and they leak no matter how well I seal them and how tight the bolts are I have been told gm has some really good stuff anyone else care to chime in before I light them on fire lol most people would probably just let them drip as I'm sure they have since they where built but I hate leaks

The gasket surface flat? Are you letting the silicone set up for a little while before tightening all the way down?

Ya it’s flat I’m letting it tack up I’m a old yota guy so I know the normal trucks but this thing has flipped 9s with the top 2 bolts cut off which are now on the bottom with plate added it’s clearance to much in my opinion so I’m asking a lot of the sealant and I’m not sure anything will do the trick but I have been surprised with some 3m stuff before

. This is a bad pic and it’s dirty but it gives you and idea of what I’m working with

Ford ta31. It's grey in a caulk tube. I've bent diff covers before trying to pull them with that stuff. It was originally made for diesel oil pans I think. If that stuff won't seal it I doubt anything else will.

Looks like you are using way too much RTV which could be causing the leaks. I use the grey RTV/ gasket maker I think is what it’s called. Thin layer on the housing and 3rd member should do it.

This was from me taking it apart that’s not my application but I use plenty lol it will push out what it dose not want can’t see how that hurts anything I apply a bead on the axle with caulk gun and a thin layer in the diff just to cover any imperfections but again I know this is not a perfect situation as the sealing surface on the lower diff is vertical rather then horizontal like intended and the pressures sealing it is not ideal that’s why I’m looking for Awesome products before I live with it or change it

Ya getting that bottom area true is not likely and if I do as soon as I bash it on a rock it won’t be any more lol

If all else fails...get some 5200 :D

You just said you didn't want it to leak...you never said you might need to take it apart again. Geez. Make up your mind

Ultra Gray ought to seal it. Lay a bead, uniform squeeze out, wait a hour and torque. Permatex does have a specific diff rtv sealer fwiw, never tried it, as I swear by ultra grey.
