I need to convert many of my CDs over to MP3. Yeah, I know it's not the best format, many are already in WMA or others. However, while my portable player can understand mutliple file types, the CD players in our cars are a little old and can read only MP3.
Other thing is space 'cause my player holds "only" (hahaha) 1 gig.

Anyhow, what are your favorite converters/codecs for getting a good compression-to-space ratio? I generally prefer 192-bit with 128 as a minimum.

Cool Edit Pro has does a pretty good job converting CD's to MP3's. You can also edit and Normalize all of you files with it

What do you mean by "normalize"? amplitude modulation so the volume comes out the same?
