Hey guys I have a 98 z71 solid axle swap with 39.5 mickey Thompson right now but am in need of a new set and wanted to get some info on other opinions. I use the truck as a daily driver and I do go mudding occasionally

Cooper STT. Tread pattern is almost identical, but they're much less expensive and last just as long, if not, longer. However, the biggest they make is a 37, which is what I'm running on my 99 SAS Silverado. Just step up to a 40" tire and go for the ProComp Xtreme MT2. You can get them for 400 bucks each from Quadratec from what I can tell.

What size rim are you running?

I like round mud tires, they work the best!

Gumbo monster mudders.

The mickeys are pretty much slicks now just trying to get everyones opinions and for mudding I don't really plan trips that often it usually just happens

Still though, if you want the most out of mudding, you need and aggressive as hell tread pattern. That said, an aggressive tread pattern and DD'ing don't mix. If I was in your shoes, two sets of tires would make sense. Just my 2¢.
I have run Cooper STT's on my DD with excellent service in the past, but I wasn't hitting any mud pits either.

I love my nitto trail grapplers....

I am starting to love mine also snappy

Radial mud tires... Nitto Trail Grappler, Toyo Mt, Cooper Stt would be my top picks. Worst... all of the off chinese Mt,s they wear like crap and fast. Goodyear MTR,s are Horrible to balance.

I disagree Jason. My mtrk's balanced great. I'm actually about to buy another set for my Xj build.

Same here couldn't be happier with the mtr's
I think jason had a wheel issue that had come out in his build thread.

I'm constantly shopping for 40-42 mts for my rig. Just for street tires or different terrain. If you don't mind dropping down to a 38.5/39, the truxxus mt is a great all around road/off road tire. I loved my set dearly.

I've run 7 different tires on my jeep and have been the biggest fan of my current Hankook Dynapro's. They balanced easier than the MTR/Ks and have been outstanding in the mud. I believe the biggest you can get is a 38x15, I'm only running a 37x12.5. I've had them on just about every terrain the country has to offer and they are amazingly sticky, plenty smooth at 80mph as well.

Another vote for the Nitto trail Grappler. Ran it in a 35x12.50x17 and a 285/70/17 currently. Best dual purpose tire out there IMHO and thats from a no gettin cheap/free tire non racin SOB. A lot of the talk about them seems to be hyped around the whole Ultra4 nutswinger crowd. I ran em way before they began sponsoring racers and have loved each set. My 35's ended up with a lot of miles on them for a MT and the 285's on my 4runner have around 7k on them now and still look new. I plan on running them on my next rig in a 37" flavor once it gets to a point I need tires.
