Best tube for exo cage?

What do you recommend for exo cage tube?

I am looking for opinions on what is the best tube to use for an exo cage. I think the consensus is .120 wall, so I am more interested in the diameter and the type of tube.

What do you recommend?
 
on the cage im going to built the main hoops are gonna be 1.75 120wall DOM but every thing elese is gonna be HREW for all the small braces etc
 
I voted for 1.75 HREW. Most of what we do is slow stuff (except for the badass buggies) If I roll my rig, it will be a slow roll. My cage will be mostly used to keep my body off of trees and to keep the sheetmetal straight. I will be using 1.75 DOM for the main hoops and HREW for all of the rest.
 
DOM for everything that can get hit. HREW is acceptable in other places and if its used keep the seam on the inside of the bend.
I understand the "we generally roll over going slow" but keep in mind that if a vehicle spends time on the road Id rather be safe than sorry. :poop: happens, to prove that I have a F-350 on 49s in the shop that had a tire come off going down the interstate(not our fault). If im going to roll over on the interstate I want every last bit of help I can get.
 
I think design plays just a big of role as does material. Mine is 1.5 HREW. It tends to dent easier than the DOM. But in a rollover that is slow there is still alot of force involved. When i did mine I drilled holes and had cross braces. I didn't have cross braces in one area and that is where it bent.

I have since fixed it and rolled it a couple times with no big deal.
 
I've rolled my 1.75" HREW turd over half a dozen times in the past year with no problems. The last roll had a bit more speed than the others (barrel rolled 2.5 times down the hill) and still had no problems.:popcorn:
 
LOL, I also forgot an option for a trampoline.
