If i needed to ship some rims somewhere in the country what would be the best way to go about it? Is going down to the UPS store and boxing them up the cheapest way? Ive shipped a few large things via UPS store and sometimes seems very expensive. Im Just wondering if anyone knows cheaper ways, thanks

Stay away from the UPS store due to the high cost of their "services". Cheapest way is to find some boxes and take them to Fed-Ex ground or the UPS terminal location. Fed-ex is usually tons cheaper, but i think they have a 70lbs. limit from non-commercial customers so a couple of boxes might work.

Box the items yourself and take said boxes to the terminal not retail locations.

Melt them down into one or two smaller chunks and ship away LOL. I would look into DHL. They were cheaper to get a good customer base to compete with fed-ex and UPS. USPS (regula post office) might be another option. They are hurting but notsure if they are cheaper. Depending on the size you might be able find a box from them and ship them. Give them a call with the rough dimensions and weight and they can give you a decent quote on the phone.

sounds good, i know ups has the distribution center in lenior so i may give them a call, didnt DHL go out of business? maybe im wrong. What about a pallet? is that a good idea too?

I noticed your in Boone. I've shipped 2 sets of beadlocks out of Boone when I was in school. I packaged mine individually and shipped them through the guy with the totem pole outside. I can't remember the name of the business though. The mailing center? or something I forget. Anyhow its the log cabin just before James Oxygen right past 194 on East King. Prices weren't too bad. I'd go check with him before I drove all the way to Lenoir.

Call around a couple of the tire stores and see if they have any wheel boxes laying around in the size you need. Then box up your wheels, get weight and dimensions and get some shipping quotes from the places mentioned.
