I have heard some mixed reviews on these tires. Thinking about getting a set and I wanted to know how they handle on and off the road. So lets hear your opinions.

My buddy had them on a dodge ram and I had some BFG muds on my jeep and he would go anywhere that I would. They will last a good while too

The BFG is a good 40k+ tire on alot of vehicles.
Just dont expect to get rock crawling or mud boggin withem.

I have heard that they like to wander on the road some. The handle fairly well on the road?

no wandering issues with mine. i mean, i guess if you have different air pressures in each then they might, but that would happen to any tire. bought my set from a guy on here that were almost brand new and haven't had any problems out of them. good in rain/dry conditions. if your jeep is a DD then i'd definitely look into them. if its just a trail rig, then i'm sure there are tires for offroading only.

I have ran 2 sets on my f-150, I was very happy with there on road and off-road capabilities. It is a good all around tire that should last 40-50k miles.

I had over 60000 miles on the set that was on my XJ and never had a problem. Whne my Ram needed tires there was only one choice and it was BFG ATs all the way have about 25000 miles on them and still look like they are new.
Rotate them regularly and you will not have any problems.

Great tires, i have had em on all my vehicles. Getting ready to get rid of the MT's and put the BFG's on. And the wandering only depends on the vehicle, not the tire unless installed wrong.

the lack of a center rib does slightly contribute to their tendency to wander, but most A/T tires don't have one. There's probably a tire that's better, but not significantly.

They are kinda the defacto standard for a reason.

Thanks for all the tips guys...

yeah I always think of BFG AT's when I hear all terrain but I heard some things and I wanted to get my facts straight from the people using the tires.

I have 32" BFG AT's and have been very happy w/ them. Not loud on the road, and as long as you deflate a little, off-road performance is fine.
No wandering issues, and handle OK in snow.
You won't get good rock-crawling grip, and if it's thick red NC mud, expect to slide b/c they quickly fill w/ mud and won't self-clean, so they become solid slick circles.

you need to become more friendly with that little pedal on the right, tenderfoot. :flipoff2:

I loved the set that I had. They never gave me a bit of trouble. I don't know what the word for this is but the tread pattern is "different" around the tire so that they don't build up harmonics which makes a tire noisey.

Hey o3tjx, I have two used ones on the front of my YJ. One nice thing that hasn't been mentioned yet. The side of the tire, (right where the bead meets the rim) has extra rubber, sticking out. This feature, protects the edge of the rim, from curb/rock damage. I'm looking for two more used for the rear. BFG A/T LT235/75R15, if anyone has 'em, PM me.

I had them on a ZR2 I had. I loved them. They were on it when I bought it the lasted for 68K before they got to the wear bars. I put some cheap mud terrains on it they lasted about 35K and I put new bfg's on it then. And they looked new when I sold it . I like them alot for a mainly road some trail tire but don't expect to much off road performance. If balanced and rotated properly they will last a long time on road with minimal noise and fairly good ride.

Have had numerous sets of them and love them. Outstanding snow tire too, like was said above, not great in the mud, but GREAT for the road and light/medium off roading.

I was pretty pleased with them when I had 33 ATs on my CJ. To be honest, about the only difference I noticed when I "upgraded" to MTs was more road noise. On a light vehicle, the tread will last forever.

Have them on my runner now and love them. I drive it more than my dd due to gas cost. No tracking problems and very low noise. Took them to URE once last year and had no problems on some of the easier trails (went around Kodiak( spelling?)).

how do the bfg m/t's do compared to the a/t's?

I didnt notice much difference offroad

I'd say it's a great tire for tow, street or beach rig and they wear very well. I think they're only okay off road. Like some of the others said, Mud-not good, on rocks are questionable to me. I have one of the newer power wagons and experienced alot of lateral sliding on rocks. Light trail duty - great tire, serious trails - look elsewhere.
