I picked up an 82 3/4 ton Suburban off the forum a while back to tow my Jeep around. It's ugly, rusty, smelly, old and drives my HOA crazy
It's got a 350 motor, granny 4 speed, and 14 bolt ff. I'm making some changes to it so I figured I'd start a build to track my progress.
Unfortunately, I didn't take any pics when I first got it. The two front windows were missing and a rear side window busted. After a few trips to junkyards, I rounded up all the replacement glass I needed. Here's a pic after cleaning it up really well and replacing and tinting the windows:
I drove it around a little bit over the next few months and the 350 just became more and more tired, struggling to move even it's own weight. I knew attempting to tow with it wouldn't be fun. I tried polishing it a little, with a tune up and a new intake and carb, but it was no use. This left me with two options, rebuild the little 350 or upgrade.
And now the fun part...I've had a weakness for displacement ever since I was a teenager. I decided the replacement would be a big block. After finding a suitable core, I sent it off to Boyette's Machine shop while I spent a few months collecting parts.
Finally, I collected all the parts to build my new 468. Here's the pile of parts so far. (yes that's my kitchen..the joy of being single![lol  ](/styles/nc4x4/xenforo/smilies/lol.gif)
More to come as I upload the pics of the rebuild....
