Ok here's the deal. Classic story - not enough $$ to do everything. Looking for opinions on priorities.

I currently have 4.88s and 32" A/Ts on my '89 Runner, w/ a TruTrac in the rear. Have a set of 5.29s to swap in, and have a Lockright to go in the front one while i'm at it.

Now I like having that TT in the rear. However, getting it swapped out of the 4.88 into the 5.29 will cost a bit. On top if that, if I sell the 4.88s w/ it in there, it'll bring in quite a bit more $$.

Now, I'm planning to get some knobby mud tires for playing, but of course... tight on cash on hand... so I could finance better/bigger tires by giving up the LSD.

Which would be better performance for the $$ -
A) 5.29, locked front, LSD rear, 32" Mud Kings
B) 5.29, locked front, open rear, 34" LTB (or similar)?
C) 5.29, locked front, open rear, 32" Mud Kings + something else

Biggest I can fit (and it might be tight) is 34x10.50.

You could be open/open with the ltb's and still do as well as the locked/lsd on mud kings.
(I have an xj on 34" ltb's that used to be open and an eb that's locked/locked and used to be on xterrains)
That's the route I would probably go, though I do hate an open rear.

Why not sell the lockrite and lsd, then get a lockrite for the rear?

Thanks for the info.
Since ths truck spends most of its life on the road, I'd rather avoid a rear auto-locker b/c of the road manners. Front is no issue b/c it had manual hubs which are normally open.
