Need a source for an oddball fastener.
Building a bunk bed for my son, uses 5/16th lag bolts to hold the main posts to side rails etc.
Since it's stained, I'd really like a black oxide finish for the lag screws, zinc/stainless will look odd.

Fastener gurus - where can I find them (about 45)? Do they even exist?

fastenall

I called the local Fastenall and ordered some last Friday. This AM I went in to get them - low and behold, the guy misread the catalog and they are actually reg steel, just look dark in the pic, they don't actually have a listing for BO.
They are scrambling to locate some, but while I was there couldn't find any.

Flat/satin/semi-gloss black Krylon... and touch up the heads (you'll undoubtedly bark the corners installing) with a black Sharpie.

Spend the money saved on something worthwhile and the remaining paint on your rig...

or look it up yourself on the fastenall web site and just go in and order the part number you need/want... I've had them not have a clue and order the wrong shit also... As with most chains some stores are better than others....

I can't seem to find them anywhere on any site, that's why I asked if they even exist (or maybe just really uncommon?) I'd think so.
Plan B is Dave's method, it's alot of bolts.

some local machine/finishing shops can black oxide standard non-coated bolts. The shop I used to work at used to black oxide all kinds of machined parts.

Its usually really cheap to get it done as well.
