I would like to know what linkage and mech problems I will face if any
by installing a 1 inch body lift on my 2003 TJ 5 speed trans. I want to Install the Teraflex belly up skid plate. and the lift is nessary. thanks storeman

I went ahead and installed the AA shift linkage bracket which is a good idea to get the linkage off the body. Another option is the Novak shifter. By the time you are done the linkage might line up with the body but you're better off with the AA or the Novak.

Storeman,
I have the M.O.R.E 1" body lift on my TJ and I had to lift the shroud so it would'nt hit the fan, put a spacer under the steering shaft U-Joint and it also came with a spacer to put under the front grill in between the frame and grill. I'm not sure what other 1" body lifts come with though. hope it helps

When I did the body lift on my tj the kit came with everything I needed to readjust all of the shift linkages to work correctly. It just took a couple hours. Then when I went to do the flat skid I had to adjust the transfercase linkages and bend my shifter handle back so that my fist wouldn't hit the dash when shifting. All of the adjustments were easy and with the 1BL and the flat skid you might get lucky and have the stock setup work.

Are you commited to 1"? With a 2" spring spacer lift, you don't have to do anything to the shift linkage. I don't know the difference in a 1" body lift with extra's and a 2" coil spacer lift cost-wise, but you may want to consider it.

Discount eveything I said above if the Teraflex belly up skid plate specifically requires a body lift and won't work with the 2" lift. (Those are real words of wisdom, eh?)

I had a belly up skid on my rig for a while. It was from skyhacker, and it required I install 1" lift motor mounts and a body lift. The motor mounts were to keep the rear driveline angle reasonable. the bellyup skid came with replacement transfer case linkages, but I have an auto, so the tranny shifting was no problem.

Can't speak for the shifter linkage but x2 on the mm lift. If you ever upgrade the steering gear (i'm running a PSC conversion gear but I pretty sure the AGR one will do the same) the lower shaft will hit the overflow bottle if you do the the radiator drop.

Some good advice thanks It sounds like the 1 inch is a pretty simple. One question though if you raise the engine 1 inch want you also need to raise the Transfer case 1 inch. I know I will when I install a flat skid but I might not do them both at the same time.

I did the 1" on my 04 in about an hour. Didn't swap crossmembers or anything. No problems at all. Just raised the body and the shroud then adjust the t-case shift linkage as needed
