I need to know the grade of bolt to use for mounting tow hooks. some igit took the tow hooks off the front of my truck to mount a grille guard and didn't put them back when they took it off. got tow hooks, but no bolts. I'm thinking grade 10. is that enough? There will be two per hook.

I may be wrong about this but I think grade 5 is what usually comes with the tow hooks. I replaced mine right off the bat with grade 8 since I was at Tractor Supply when I bought the hooks.

Use grade 8. 5 may be adequate, but why risk it?

if they are metric, you're wanting 10.9.

Cool, thanks, They came with 8.8, but are the wrong thread so off to lowes I go.

I'd go with a grade 5. better to bend the bolt and SEE that it has failed than to have it break and the tow hook come through someone's windshield.

I'd rather have the bolt not reach it's bending point in the first place. A grade 5 will shear off and send the hook flying before a grade 8 reaches its bend point.
