I'm replacing the brake booster and master cylinder on my '91 Accord SE.

Booster has a clearance spec for protrusion on the push rod. Shop quoted $1300.... I already had the 3 book FSM so I grabbed a "specialized" tool and the parts off rock auto. The tool I got isn't OEM in design and isn't able to measure the full depth of the master cylinder. It is able to on the booster.

Here's my question/ line of thought : IF the booster and master cylinder I got to replace the old parts are fit and form OEM in dimension(I'll measure) could I not just take measurements off the old booster pushrod, match it to the new one (check the clearance) and put everything back together?

Solid, just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy for that line of thought.
