My new to me (96 Ram 2500) has a 7 pin trailer hookup, I had hoped it was a factory setup so a controller could be adapter/plug and play, but it looks aftermarket.
I think the PO had a controller in the truck and took it with him. Can anyone ID this harness plug? Is it a brake controller plug, or unused factory harness?
The pigtail hangs right in front of the transfer case shifter, and has a white plastic piece taped to it to make it rigid.

I did some more digging, I think I found the factory 4 pin brake controller pigtail, it is shoehorned under the bracket for the clutch pedal.

Still curious what the 8 pin connector (with 5 wires) is fore, I guess I will need to dig up a diagram. Probably something for an automatic equipped truck?

Hard to tell for sure from the pic, but that does look like the factory brake controller connector. I bought the adapter and mount to swap my Prodigy over about a year ago, still havent swapped it out, lol.

I looked under my dash, hard to tell where the first connector is going, but it's near the HVAC controls, possibly the overdrive or fog light switch area. Hard to tell without taking stuff apart.
